Project Description

Every extension should feel like a natural continuation of the home rather than an obvious addition. Our approach is to study the existing architecture, its proportions, rhythm and craftsmanship, and reinterpret these qualities in a contemporary way. This project transformed an underutilised wing of a 30-year-old residence into a light filed wellness and workspace comprising a private gym and an office. Rather than treating the extension as a separate addition, the design sought to integrate it seamlessly with the existing home. The original curved facade was retained and reinterpreted, while the timber windows were carefully reconfigured into larger openings to maximise natural light and strengthen the connection to the surrounding landscape. Internally, bespoke cabinetry, concealed storage and integrated workstations create spaces that are tightly functional yet visually calm. Existing architectural elements, including the rich timber flooring and original proportions were preserved where possible, allowing old and new to coexist naturally. The result is a contemporary extension that respects the character of the original home while providing flexible spaces designed for work, wellbeing and everyday living.
